Frequently Asked Questions

What should I expect from my first session?

Before your first session we will discuss your medical history on the phone in a 15 minute phone call. You are welcome to email these details if you prefer or if your medical history is complex. This is part of the covid protocol to ensure face to face is limited where possible. On arrival you will proceed upstairs to the clinic room. You will be asked to place your belongings on a chair and to sit or lie on the adjustable couch which is very comfortable and can be adjusted. Then I will take pulses on both wrists one side and then the other. After which you may be asked some further questions if anything needs clarifying. Then the acupuncture points that are to be used will be chosen and the placement of them discussed. With your agreement the needles are then inserted into the body and left for approximately 20 minutes, though this time is shorter in children. After the needles are removed the session comes to an end. If other modalities are used or the use of needles are not desired then this is discussed after the pulses have been taken.

How should I prepare for my first treatment?

As part of the covid prevention protocol it is asked that you bring your own blanket and pillows to use on the fully adjustable wipeable couch.
That you should cancel an appointment if you are unwell, especially if you have any symptoms of covid 19. This is not only for everyone's protection but there are a proportion of people who attend the clinic that are clinically vulnerable.
That you should refrain from consuming alcohol or other substances that may alter your ability to have or to consent to treatment.

What methods of payment are accepted?

Sessions can be paid for by card or cash.
If you need a receipt for you health insurance please let me know and I will send you a receipt.

Do you help treat terminal or chronic illness?

It is always a privilege to support people with a terminal or chronic illness. Acupuncture can help bring the body back into balance and reduce the intensity of some symptoms. Acupuncture can also help you to relax so you are able to find your inner strength.

Cancellation Policy

24 hours notice for cancellation is required. If it is less than 24 hours half the consultation fee will be charged and if there is no show then the full fee will be charged.
Exceptions to this are illness, an emergency or extreme weather.
If you are late, the appointment will still have to end on time in order for the room to be ready for the next appointment. If you are late there may not be time to use different treatment modalities. If you are running late it is always best to call with estimated time of arrival, as I cannot guarantee that I will be able to see you.

What is being done to reduce the transmission of Covid 19 and other diseases in the clinic?

All advised procedures in line with the British Acupuncture council are adhered to. Thorough cleaning takes place of the couch and all touchable surfaces between sessions. For complete details please ask for more information as cleaning and hygiene protocols are extensive.
